Play and Learn

William watching the Baby Einstein Mozart Mrs. Erika sent (Thank you, Ceci!). Then, it was off to the play skape... I had a good time! As soon as Mommy put me in my swing, I fell right to sleep.

Hanging with Poppa

...in newborn cloths & 0-3 mt socks. My feet are a size bigger than my body.

Papa comes to vist almost daily, and sometimes, he holds me and talks to me. If I'm awake, I just look at him and listen.

7 weeks old & 7 POUNDS!

At 4:24am Tuesday morning, William will be 7 weeks old, and today, was his first day in Newborn clothes. Most of his newborn outfits are still too big, but he fits into his overalls that are "up to 7 pounds." However, at 7 pounds, 0.4 ounces they are still big on him ... His onesie fell on the floor, so the Cajun baby pic is from after the weekly weigh in.

Last night was the last time he'll get to wear his Preemie Yum Yum shirt (size 4-6 pounds). You can see his little pot-belly is popping out of it. You may remember him wearing it in these hospital photos taken approximately 5 weeks ago on July 6th. He's growing so fast!

The Start of the 2008 Olympics

Mommy went to the OB today, found out she still has 2+ protein, and is down 40 lbs. from the day she went into the hospital to be monitored (who knows what she weighed with all the fluid pumped into her for surgery). The doctor wants her to do a sample again to confirm the protein is working it's way out of her system. He said it can take 6-8 weeks, and if it isn't working it's way out, she'll have to see a kidney specialist. Her appointment with the neurologist is next week.
We took a family trip today to Dularge to pick up my Christening gown. Mrs. Dianne made me a little bonnet to match the gown and embroidered my name and Christening date on it. It's made of heirloom batiste and lace, and mimics the one her mother hand-made and embroidered in 1936. Since I'm in preemie sized clothes, my gown and bonnet are newborn sized with ties to make it fit my little body. Mommy and Daddy are hoping it will be an heirloom in our family. Mommy can't wait to see what I say about it when I'm older, but since Daddy thinks the gown is gorgeous, she hopes I'll like it too. How can you not love something old fashion?

My Original Due Date

Today was William's original due date. At close to 6 and a half pounds, he's the size of a regular newborn. We spent the morning having family time, hanging out in Mommy and Daddy's bed playing, and then got dressed for the special day. It was gloomy outside, so we stayed in, but Mommy and Daddy enjoyed William being here...We can't describe it as anything other than surreal.

August 4th, 2008 - 6 pounds, 4.8 ounces

William weighed in at 6 pounds, 4.8 ounces today. Tomorrow he will be 6 weeks old, and we're all so pleased with how healthy he is. There are just 3 more days until his due date. This pic is not from today, but I thought it was funny.

July 31st, 2008: Baby Friends

For those of you who don't know, Lauren and I have been friends since we were four years old. Today, William and Ethan met for the first time outside their Mommy's' bellies. Ethan turned 4 weeks today, and William is 5.5 weeks. They didn't really respond to one another but did grab hands a few times. Surely, they'll be more interested in being mischievous together as they grow.

The second title for today's entry is "Bumper Pad Advocate." I've come to believe in bumper pads. They catch the things your newborn throws and shoots at you. In a matter of 15 minutes, we went through 4 diapers. The first was the diaper I was taking off of William; the second diaper caught most of the pee he shot at me; the bumper pad caught the squirts of poop he shot at me (the changing pad caught some too); the third diaper was filled with the rest of the poop that turned out not to be a skid mark; and the fourth diaper caught the gas that followed. Yes, bumper pads come in handy to catch the things that baby's send your way.
